Overlay

Since the Vectrex did not have color, all of its original line-up of games came with colorful plastic overlays that fit over the Vectrex screen to simulate color and cut down on the Vectrex glare.

The majority of the overlays were created by Western Technologies employee Miva Filoseta.

Along with the game's logo and various shaded areas to represent various game aspects -- the vault in Clean Sweep, the target site area in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, etc. -- the game's controls and usually the area for the player's(s') score(s) were also printed on the overlays to coincide with various areas of the screen displays.

Some modern day Vectrex homebrews also come with overlays (Color Clash, Protector LE), although those are in the minority.
